I’m Kelly a business consultant in Yorkshire; I’ve been working in the recruitment sector for 20 years and I’m passionate about Recruitment and Retention.

After building my career as a Recruitment Professional, from Trainee Recruiter in the food manufacturing industry to Performance Manager within the video games sector, I spent some time in the UAE and Malaysia, where I taught English.

On my return to the UK, my career focused on training recruiters; rookies with 101 recruitment training and then skills development for more seasoned professionals. My love of people development encouraged me to take the leap into Learning and Development, where I studied for my CIPD L&D Level 5 qualification. It was in this role that I found my calling; helping my businesses to implement an L&D function. This included L&D strategy with policies and procedures; a Training Needs Analysis to support the annual appraisal system; career journey mapping and managing relationships with our external training providers. Dedicating time for our employees, and helping them to develop their skills proved fundamental in retention and we were keen to offer employees the chance to grow with the business, and aspire to be leaders of the future. This initial project with Aardvark Swift was a big success!

I was keen to get my teeth into similar projects working with SMEs, with a primary focus on recruitment businesses. I launched The L&D Co in January 2022; it’s a new venture with plenty to offer! Whilst the service is built on a proven 4-step process, based on learning theories and supported by materials and ideology from the CIPD, I can be flexible in my approach to meet the needs of your business.
